The Hype on Hybrid Cars
Everyone’s always talking about Hybrid cars, but what really makes them good? Is it the fact that they use electricity? That is a good reason but what are more reasons as to why hybrid cares are the way to go.
Hybrid cars have become a regular feature in many of the huge car manufacturers line ups. They come in all shapes and sizes for every personal, and now commercial situation, but don’t get a hybrid confused with electric cars.
Hybrid cars are exactly what they say – a mixture of traditional gas engine and an electric engine that makes the cars power less reliant on burning gas – and it works really well. It cuts down the carbon footprint of a car tremendously, but not only that, it makes it economical to run. Many people buy a hybrid car because of its low cost to run, rather than its environmental impact, but either way it’s a great way to be eco-friendly.
The problem is, although a hybrid lessens the carbon footprint of the car, it doing it by manufacturing more parts. A hybrid car essentially has two engines – a gas one, and an electric one. Can we really solve the problem of the abuse of the earth’s resources by producing a car with two engines? Twice the manufacturing consumption? It’s not the wisest move, especially as there is an alternative.
All electric cars are not as common as hybrid cars even though the technology has been there much longer, they are a great alternative. They use no gas and are fast becoming very versatile.
Why switch to electric vehicles? most people ask; well first of all, they’re more efficient. Electric motors transfer 75 per cent of their battery power to the wheels, losing very little energy as waste heat. Compare that to the internal combustion engine, which converts just 20 percent of gasoline energy into forward motion.
So even if you plug your electric vehicle into a grid powered by coal, you’ll still produce less greenhouse gases than a similar gas-fuelled car. You’re not merely moving the tailpipe from bellowing out toxins to the electricity’s source. Instead, you’re measurably reducing emissions! And to make it ever better you won’t have a guilty conscience for polluting the environment – Hybrids emit up to 97% less toxic emissions and half as much greenhouse-causing carbon dioxide as the average car.

Don’t forget a hybrid car doesn’t have to be “un-cool” you can get cool hybrid cars like the Porsche Cayenne, so you can cruise around town and look super sporty while not having to worry about greenhouse gases!
Imagine never going to a gas station again! All you have to do is pull into your garage or driveway, reach over for a plug, and push it into the charging inlet; it’s very convenient! Wake up the next morning, and you have a car ready to go another 80 to 100 miles—or longer, depending on the model; that’s plenty for everybody!
Also electric cars are low maintenance! They runs on electrically powered engines and so there is no need to lubricate the engines. Other expensive engine work is a thing of past! So, the maintenance cost of these cars has come down. You don’t need to send it to service station often as you do a normal gasoline powered car.
Hybrid cars reduced noise pollution, hybrids much quieter. Electric motors are capable of providing smooth drive with higher acceleration over longer distances.
All in all hybrid cars are the way to go; fast, fun, and fuel efficient.
